Verdant Works + Discovery Point 11.09.11

Just realised I forgot about the trip back in the first week of September where I went with parents out to Verdant Works and Discovery Point - two tourist attractions in Dundee.

Verdant Works - Jute Mill museum.
Jute is a rough stringy material made from plants grown in India. Back in the 1800s Dundee was globally famous for Jute production, which was made into bags, tents, wallpapers, clothing. Also because Dundee had a large whale business and Jute was softened with whale oil. However later on Indians discovered how much they were earning, so they started up their own mill in India and Dundee could no longer compete. 



Discovery Point:
Museum about Dundee's famous boat and crew that sailed to New Zealand and the Antartica.
